A Week in the Life - Saturday

So today was my first day of doing Ali Edwards a Week in the Life project -- I wasn't sure how I was going to get enough pictures to be able to do 4 pages a day - but omg - I may need 10! this is just a glimpse of our day - I've been trying to get in front of the camera!

We were up bright and early on Saturday and off to Sidney by the Sea after the mandatory Timmies stop! :) We were really early so we made a pitstop at the park before heading to the Shaw Ocean discovery Centre - the Vancouver Aquarium it is not - but still fun - I wish it had stayed without people, but a few minutes after I snapped this pic gad of people showed up Xander loved the touch pools - he didn't want to leave

some new artwork on the green - the kids had to pose - lunch (breakfast) was at the Spitfire grill right beside the airport runways :)

home for naptime and I was off to my POTM class - the cardstock order just came in...look at all those yummy colours!!! TP run! We had run out (hasn't happened in forever!) and I forgot to grab some on the way home..oops. Spaghetti, salad and garlic bread for dinner...running late - forgot to cook noodles! oops! waiting for a pot to boil is excruciating! table topic - nuclear energy! lol

after bath (by daddy) and snuggle time (by mommy) - adult Saturday night started - Fred plays WOW with his friends and I usually plug into my ipod and get 'scrapalackin' as Fred would say - I started, but I just wasn't into it, *GASP* so it became a PPP night - Pepsi, popcorn and PVR :)

March Faves

This months fave layouts :) I'm still in love with the pictures that we had done in 2006!!!! and still scrapping them! The photographer is no longer in business :( and I can't find another affordable one *sigh* I've noticed that I'm stuck on brown - almost every lo I do lately has a brown background - I just can't help it - but then I did the santa one in white - and I LOVE it - may be an all-time fave - and I think I may use white more often!

boy is it tough to get a good pic of layouts in the dreary weather!!!!

Easter

This last year I've been trying to be a little more low key when it comes to holidays - they don't have to be perfect and if something doesn't get done - no big deal -- what didn't get done this Easter? no pics of the big kids! oops -- I have pics of their baskets - but I was making breakfast when they tore into them...they did an egg hunt too - but they moved around so fast I didn't manage to get a picture...I don't think they really care - maybe if it's nice enough today I'll get a few pics with their new bikes - not really Easter 'presents' but we told them not to expect much in their baskets since they just got bikes -- they still ended up with lots - but things they need like socks, shorts, gym clothes - stuff they didn't - too much chocolate and a 15 itunes card - the biggest hit of course!

Xander caught on real quick that there was 'stuff' in the eggs and when he went hunting for his
eggs no one had to tell him where to go or what to do really - we pointed them out and off he went! It was really funny watching him try to put them in the basket! He 'hunted' all day - he'd take the empty eggs and hide them then go around 'finding' them again! such a nut! It could keep him busy all week though!

the spill proof bubbles were a big hit - and they're actually spill proof!

should have named him Dennis!!!!!

seriously!! this boy is a menace!! I do nothing but pick up after and run after him all day long! He learns things so quickly that if he sees you do something once, he's got it and will be doing it too -- Fred has him spoiled rotten, so that doesn't help any! One fine day, going through the Timmie's drive through, the girl wanted desperately to give Xander a timbit - I said NOOOOOO - I think she thought I was pretty rude...a few days later, Fred encounters same thing - of course he says 'sure!'....I can no longer go to Tim Horton's with the menace...ugh -- well, I can...if I want to either endure the crying or give in and get him a timbit....double ugh....and just this weekend, Fred has ruined grocery shopping at Thrifty's too -- cause the cute girl in the bakery insisted on giving the menace a cookie! triple ugh!
so, what has the menace been up to you say? well....
here's my sweet boy...isn't he cute....the alphpah hair is just wonderful! lol

ah..but look where he is.....*sigh*

oh...and what is this? there seems to be a door missing...

oh...the menace...yes...he pulled the door off the cupboards - probably because something wouldn't come out...

ok, ok..it had been loose - but still! He's a menace! and oh so proud of it!
life would be dull without him :)

Basic Grey POTM

so both of my LSSs have been 'advertising' this Basic Grey Page of the Month program - I kinda wanted to join, but it was a year commitment of $30/mth - which I thought was a bit much for a 2 page kit - until I saw a couple of the kits and wowsers! My 'preferred' LSS, but the one I frequent less often because of distance, still had a few spaces left, they also offer a discount card to those that join, and we get a 12x12 album (D ring from Basic Grey) at the end of the year - which I don't believe the other LSS offers - they offer two different classes too - and you can just pop into whichever fits yor schedule that month - or not go at all -- but if you do attend the class, they're giving away little prizes - and I won this mth :) All of this came about because I popped in there with my friend Tara last week and we signed up for a Basic Grey card class (from their Kioshi line - gorgeous!) - then I was online at the LSS website to see what we needed to bring and saw that they has spaces left, and showed pictures of what came in the first kit - showed Fred, told him what it was and he said 'call, call her right now and see if there's still a space!' - ah ok!! so the best part is - Fred is paying for it!! :) lol and I got 3hrs away on Saturday!! life is good!
so here's the first one - I literally signed up a couple of hrs before the class, picked pictures 2 minutes before I left and forgot things like my scissors! duh! I followed the supplied layout fairly closely - it's supposed to have a title - but I haven't decided on that yet....

ya did what??!!??

so about a month ago, Fred played soccer for PT - came home with a goose egg on his shin from being kicked -- no big deal he said, he was limping a bit and said it hurt when he pushed on it...but it was fine. Over Christmas I asked him about it as the goose egg was still there...he waved me off - 'it's fine'...I noticed it again a few days ago, it was really red and looked bad to me - I thought it looked like it was infected - again I got the 'it's fine...but maybe I'll have it looked at', so today, during PT he went to have it looked at ... they gave him x-rays to rule out a tumour!.. as he was putting his shoes on the tech comes out and say 'huh, I think you better come back in for a few more x-rays - it's not what we thought it was, but that's all I can tell you'....ok...has more x-rays and waits..he could hear a few med students chatting about 'he's got to be in pain, how could you have that and not be in pain..' one of them came over and asked him a couple of questions --Fred asked if they knew what was wrong - he said 'oh, I can't tell you, you'll have to wait for the dr' He finally gets in to see the dr and lo and behold his leg is *broken*!!! dumbass! It's the same leg that he broke his ankle wrestling with a friend 7 or so yrs ago...how the hell do you break your leg and no feel the pain!!!!! of course now, it's the excuse for everything! trying to get sympathy! lol I don't think so buddy!!! He's in an air cast until Monday when he goes to see the specialist, because of course now it's almost healed and the specialist needs to decide if it's healed well enough or not - would serve him right if they have to re-break it - bet he'd feel *that*!!! but I don't actually wish for that, it's alread affecting his course as he's on limited duty and has to reschedule a test on Monday and missed most of today...he could be kicked off the course if he has to lose more time :(
but for now it's simply hilarious! Boys really are dumb!!!!!!!!!!!

not 1, but 2!!

milestones in my house this morning!
First is bittersweet - Kayin's 12th birthday is here! He's super excited - and I am too - but wow, he's 12! technically he can stay home alone *and* babysit - but omg - I don't think so!! He's soooo not ready - Em, I think she could stay home with no problem, and could even babysit for a short period of time, she'll be 10 in Feb -- but Kayin -- I worry if I just leave him in the house while I'm outside!! maybe it's a boy thing - I've been using Hollee's 'boys are dumb' mantra a lot lately!! lol Emma has taken to saying it too ;) but seriously - this is scary territory I'm walking into! puberty..ACK! home alone..ACK! the teen years start next year...triple ACK! thankfully there's a home alone course being run at the mfrc in April - after talking to some of the other parents, it seems like a great little course and they all have the same fears as I do -- but some of them are leaving them alone and they're doing just fine after having the course...we'll see! lol

the 2nd milestone is that Xander *finally* slept through the night - the whole glorious night - from 7:30 to 7:18!!!!! He hasn't done that since he was about 3mths old - when his teeth started coming in ..ugh....the progression has been there - but Fred is such a push over when Xander cries -- I started him on a bottle about a mth ago, and now he's almost completely bottle fed, and I've been making(i mean encouraging) Fred put him to bed and get up with him in the night while he's been on vacation -- funny how now he's alright with him crying in the night! lol At his 1yr check on Monday I confirmed that he doesn't need anything to eat from bedtime until breakfast - so finally Fred was on board - but it was the easiest cry it out ever! lol Monday I got up in the night - but it was 4am before he woke up, I have him 4 oz and he slept until 8:30! then Tuesday he woke up around 1, I didn't get up, he fussed for about 10mins and went back to sleep until about 3, fussed again, slept until 6ish, had a few ozs and slept until 8ish...then last night...*I* woke up at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...he woke up at 7:18 :) I've probably jinxed myself, and tonight will be a nightmare..but that's ok...the boy *will* sleep...I'm determined and just as stubborn as he is! :)
